When you attend the Pathway to Homeownership information session, you'll learn about:
1. Habitat’s Homeownership Program
2. What it takes to qualify to buy a home or participate in financial coaching
3. How you can begin your homebuying journey
4. Where to start if you're not yet eligible for Habitat Homeownership
Each information session includes a short presentation from a Habitat staff member, a HUD certified counselor and a loan consultant. There will be an open forum to ask questions and Habitat team members who will assist you with the homeownership application. Habitat is here to help you in your homebuying journey and address any questions or hesitations you may have.
1. Household income may not exceed 65% of the area median income
2. Have crowded, substandard, or cost-burdensome living conditions
3. Have a willingness to partner
4. Have the ability to pay
If you are approved as a Cape May County Habitat homebuyer, you are required to complete 300 hours of sweat equity building your home or working on other Habitat projects, pay a good faith payment of $1,500, and qualify for and commit to paying a 30-year mortgage. Additionally, the size of your home is determined by the size of your family.
